FEB 17, 2027
6-8 pm
Whether you’re navigating a high-pressure job or simply yearning to reconnect with the playful child within, this workshop invites you to step out of the everyday and into a space of freedom and imagination. Over the course of two hours, through guided prompts and movement-based exercises, we’ll explore impulse, spontaneity, and creativity, free from the need to “get it right.” We will play freely and in the process reclaim the parts of ourselves that have been waiting to be seen.
All workshops will take place in the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space at 511 W. 52nd Street in Hell’s Kitchen. You can find out more about our Workshops and other Public Engagement offerings here.
2026/27 WORKSHOPS
This playwriting workshop opens with a discussion about the “4th wall,” what necessitates an audience, audience engagement and potential responsibility. You will leave with a writer’s start-up kit, a personal inventory based on a list of themes, and a rough structure/scaffolding to hang your story upon.
More
In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the history and traditions of shadow puppetry from around the world while learning how light, shadow, and movement come together to tell stories. Participants will leave with their own portable shadow theatre and puppets, along with the tools to continue creating shadow plays and stories at home!
