FEB 16, 2027
6-8 pm
In this workshop, we’ll utilize scenes from recent television, film, and play scripts – acting out what we find at the table and performing our work at the end of session. This workshop is an exercise for your brain and your imagination. Please bring your pencils, pens, highlighters, and having read the chosen material. Looking forward to discovering the text with you!
All workshops will take place in the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space at 511 W. 52nd Street in Hell’s Kitchen. You can find out more about our Workshops and other Public Engagement offerings here.
2026/27 WORKSHOPS
This playwriting workshop opens with a discussion about the “4th wall,” what necessitates an audience, audience engagement and potential responsibility. You will leave with a writer’s start-up kit, a personal inventory based on a list of themes, and a rough structure/scaffolding to hang your story upon.
More
In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the history and traditions of shadow puppetry from around the world while learning how light, shadow, and movement come together to tell stories. Participants will leave with their own portable shadow theatre and puppets, along with the tools to continue creating shadow plays and stories at home!
