Internship Info

The Artistic Intern works closely with the Artistic staff, providing producing and administrative support for all Artistic and Development programming. Artistic Interns help with research; data entry; assisting in the execution of internal readings; and lend support to our Mainstage Productions. It is an opportunity to learn about how a non-profit theater both produces and develops new work. A strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential.

The Development intern works closely with the Individual Giving and Special Events staff on a variety of projects that support MCC Theater’s fundraising efforts. Intern will assist with: database management; correspondence; planning and executing donor cultivation and funding events; research; planning and tasks associated with annual gala fundraiser, Miscast; and maintenance of organizational systems. Perspective Development Interns are asked to submit a writing sample with their resume and cover letter (ie: mock grant proposal, an essay, etc.)

Our Institutional Giving intern works closely with the Manager of Institutional Giving on research and writing related to fundraising from foundation, corporate, and government agencies. Intern will assist with: researching prospective funding opportunities; drafting proposals and letters of inquiry; collecting and organizing information for reporting purposes. Must have strong writing skills and an ability to implement feedback on written work.

The Marketing intern assists the Director of Marketing and Marketing Associate in various office duties such as managing audience communications/mailings, conducting research, facilitating audience surveys, maintaining department archives and databases, planning and implementing viral and grassroots marketing efforts. Excel and Social Media experience a must. Photoshop, Dreamweaver a plus. Perspective Marketing Interns interested in design are asked to submit a sample of any design platforms they have worked on, if available.

Education & Public Engagement interns assist the Education Director and Education Outreach Coordinator with various MCC arts in education programs, across the MCC Theater Youth Company. This is a terrific opportunity to obtain hands-on experience working in a professional theater company’s education department. Interns will spend time in the office performing various administrative tasks, in our after school programs as an assistant, and in production for our final Youth Company performances. Experience working with teenagers or arts education is a plus. Please note: Education internships run alongside the school year calendar, so interns are only brought on in the fall and summer. Education Internships are from September – May/June or June-September.
