The Company

MCC Theater, the award-winning off-Broadway company that has recently produced WALK ON THROUGH: CONFESSIONS OF A MUSEUM NOVICE, THE CONNECTOR, THE LONELY FEW, WOLF PLAY, BEES & HONEY, WET BRAIN, ONLY GOLD, SCHOOL GIRLS; OR THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY, THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE, HAND TO GOD, PUNK ROCK, among others over its 30+ years, seeks highly motivated and skilled arts educators interested in being considered for a VARIETY OF ROLES within our upcoming Public Engagement & Education 2024/25 Season. Our education programs serve students from across the five boroughs through our public engagement offerings, school partnerships, and Youth Company, which produces annual events UNCENSORED and FRESHPLAY FESTIVAL. 

Our mission is to help young people develop their artistic voices as well as their desire to speak out. Our students are encouraged to discover and explore their unique artistic voices as they work together to create and perform original work. Authenticity, originality, energy, honesty, enthusiasm—all their experiences are essential to the process. Through collaboration, YC members form a supportive ensemble of young artists where they are free to experiment, make bold choices, and take risks. 

Job Description 

Our Public Engagement & Education team seeks to update its database of creative workers in various areas for upcoming contracts this season. We are currently seeking artists with expertise in the following areas: 

  • Stage Management 
  • Directing play readings
  • Acting for play readings
  • Photography
  • Videography + Editing
  • Lighting Design
  • Lighting Technicians
  • Teaching Artistry for one-off workshops 

The ideal candidates should have: 

  • Experience working with NYC teens
  • Experience in the role you are interested in filling
  • Demonstrated experience in a collaborative work environment including working with a production team and administrative staff 
  • A learner-first mentality, open to learning from and alongside young people 
  • Knowledge of and deep investment in anti-oppressive work & MCC’s stated values 
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours

This is an opportunity to get to know each other as we build our roster for projects moving forward. This database will only be used by the PE/EDU team and will not impact roles related to our mainstage productions.
