House Managers – PART TIME

MCC Theater, the award-winning off-Broadway company that has recently produced School Girls; or The African Mean Girls Play, The Legend of Georgia McBride, Hand to God, Punk Rock, among others over its 30+ years, seeks highly organized, detail-oriented, part-time House Managers to join MCC’s staff. MCC Theater will be opening The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space in the January 2019, featuring two state-of-the-art theaters, The Newman Mills Theater (245 seats) and The Susan & Ronald Frankel Theater (100 seats), designed to accommodate both traditional and non-traditional stagings.

This audience services team member will report directly to the Audience Services Manager and play a vital role as the front line of customer service to MCC patrons as well as oversee the Assistant House Manager and staff and volunteer ushers. The House Manager is expected to manage all front of house tasks for performances with or without the presence of senior staff.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in house management for a theater or arts venue.

Applicants must be Fireguard and CPR certified otherwise applicant must get certified in both before beginning. MCC will cover costs if certification is needed.

Must be able to work a minimum of 4 performances a week.

The position may communicate directly with colleagues in other departments including, Company Management, General Management and Production teams.


  • Frontline responder for issues and/or emergencies that may arise pre, during or post show
  • Ensure proper fire-safety procedures are in place during every performance
  • Orient and supervise all staff ushers and volunteer ushers as well as the Assistant House Manager
  • Point of contact for Stage Management and Production pre-show for timely performance starts and during performances in case of emergency
  • Handling patron questions and/or special requests in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.

Start date: January 14, 2019

Shifts: Tuesday – Sunday while in production.

Pay: $75 per shift
